Scope
In this course, we will discuss the basics to describe physical plasmas, while collisions, transport mechanisms, confinement possibilities and waves in plasmas will be emphasised. Besides the fluid model and the kinetic description, which are both essential for the mathematical description of plasmas, we will look at boundary layers and their phenomena. Applications of low-temperature plasmas as well as plasmas for nuclear fusion will be in focus. This course provides an overview of physical plasmas and gives basic knowledge, which can be built upon theoretically and experimentally in advanced courses on this topic.
